Plummer Vinson Syndrome

Difficulty in swallowing along with flat nails can be due to upper esophageal ring associated with Iron deficiency anemia together known as Plummer Vinson Syndrome.



This Upper esophageal ring can be treated with endoscopy as a day care procedure . A 19 year old female presented with these nail changes & difficulty in swallowing for 1 complete year . On evaluation was found to have Plummer Vinson syndrome . Treated Endoscopically & post Dilatation was able to swallow without any difficulty . If someone suffers from difficulty in swallowing visit a gastroenterology / hepatology department expert immediately.
